Established in 2005 by Melissa Molnar Lawson, Providence based Lacuna Design is an architectural and interior design firm. The firm is capable of creating design of the highest level in projects ranging from high end business space design, commercial building projects, institutional projects and private residence (new construction, additions and renovations). The firm’s integration of bold moves, inventive materials and exciting perspectives has defined the practice for over 5 years.
Being a newer firm in an older city, Lacuna Design has carved a niche with modern and sensitive design. The firm recently finished a high end business center in downtown providence as well as a new Montessori school and renovations to a local church.
Melissa Lawson, principal + Architect
Melissa Molnar Lawson is a talented, creative and accomplished architect. Her expertise and creativity shines when given a project to work on from concept to completion. Melissa studied architecture at Roger Williams University, School of Architecture in Bristol, RI. She studied abroad in the Czech Republic for a semester before graduating in 1999 with a Bachelor of Architecture. After working with notable architectural firms in New York, Boston, and Providence, Melissa established her own design firm Lacuna Design in 2005. Lacuna Design is a small firm that specializes in modern design principles. Melissa is a registered architect for the State of Rhode Island, has recently become NCARB certified and is actively pursuing registration in the States of Connecticut and Massachusetts. She is also actively pursuing LEED certification.
